This is not the case at MatX Lab. We perform testing using a network of accredited partner laboratories, so our capabilities depend on your issue, not our floor space. 2. Independent Recommendation

Since we don’t offer time on instruments, there is no reason to try to point you toward a specific piece of equipment. The only thing we care about is getting the right question matched with the right technique to answer it. So, if a $400 optical inspection solves your problem, we won’t give you a $4,000 quote on an electron microscopy study. And if it really requires an XPS depth profile or a micro-CT, then we’ll tell you why before you’ve spent a dime. It’s not just a tag line. It’s built into our structure as a business.

Each and every analysis performed at the MatX Lab adheres to established testing procedures when a suitable standard is available. The analyses performed at MatX Lab adhere to test protocols described in ASTM, ISO, IEC, UL, and MIL-STD standards so that the results you receive can be reproduced and defended in design reviews and supplier disputes. We are as explicit in describing what we do not do as we are in describing what we do. We do not certify products nor function as a standards body.

4. One Point of Contact

Many complex analyses require a combination of various technologies. It may be necessary to carry out failure analysis using optical imaging, SEM/EDS, FTIR and thermal analysis before the actual cause becomes evident. In most laboratories, this implies a number of quotations, shipping of samples separately, and having to reconcile various reports from different sources. However, at MatX Lab you have only one project contact for all your analysis requirements and receive a single report at the end.

5. Reports Written to Be Used

Non-actionable results are costs, not resources. The answer to your question is provided upfront, followed by the evidence supporting the answer, and then the numbers are separated from the analysis. Numbers are labeled. Sources are cited. Raw data is available upon request. If the report is going onto the engineer’s workbench, into a client audit, or even to the board of directors, it will hold up.
